The Reliability Challenge
DC bus capacitor degradation causes speed ripple on paper machine drives that introduces sheet tension variation and caliper non-uniformity. IGBT failures from thermal cycling during grade changes trip sectional drives and cause web breaks. Cooling system fouling from ambient fiber dust and paper dust reduces power module heat dissipation and triggers thermal derating.
